“What Are You Looking For, Wolf?” is a powerful performance based on the award-winning novella by Belarusian writer Eva Veznavec. The story follows Ryna, a Belarusian woman in her forties, who returns to her native village after years of working in the West. Called back by the death of her grandmother Darafeya, what begins as a funeral becomes a deep journey into memory, pain, and the trauma of a homeland.
As Ryna walks across an almost deserted land, she confronts the silence of generations, fragments of forgotten history, and the realization that Belarus is not just a place, but a space marked by violence, loss, and exile. Through poetic language and raw realism, the show explores themes of migration, identity, historical silence, and survival.
This is a story of women who remember what others try to forget. Of voices once buried. Of a country that has endured nine different regimes, but never truly belonged to itself.
